me too!! i was well shocked!! watch the extras on the second disk when i give it back (i'll give it back at Mim's party coz i duno when else i'll see you)
apparently he was a fictional character, created by the blood-thristy victorian writers for the bloody-thirsty victorian public.. they had these lil book things, called "penny dreadfuls" about all crimes and stuff, and Sweeny Todd was just a character they created for that, but he was really popular so they made loads of stories, and then plays, and now films about him, til he reached the status of "ledgend", and now it's pretty much taken as read that he was real, by anyone who hears about him, but he actually wasn't.
oh well. we'll have to find a new evil criminal to have a fixation on, eh?
